Read for the record 2021
Jumpstart’s “READ FOR THE RECORD” is an annual campaign that engages participants from around the world to read the same book as a global community. Each year, a book is selected to promote not only reading and language skills, but also the development of socio-emotional skills, honoring the diversity in our world through a strong and compelling narrative for young children.
On October 28th, children from Preschool to Grade 2 joined this international event once again, and were invited to imagine the children from different places reading the same story at the same time:
“Are they reading this book in Orlando?
Even in China and Japan?”
In addition to enjoying wonderful literature, they felt part of a Global Community.
The book selected this year was Kat Zhang’s “Amy Wu and the Patchwork Dragon”, a moving and meaningful book that addresses topics such as creativity, self-affirmation and the power of love and caring through words of encouragement.
To sum up, this brilliant reading campaign always brings knowledge of different cultures and leaves our young readers excited to hear stories, nurturing the pleasure of reading.

O “READ FOR THE RECORD” da Jumpstart é uma campanha anual que envolve participantes de todo o mundo para ler o mesmo livro como uma comunidade global. A cada ano, um livro é selecionado visando promover não apenas as habilidades de leitura e linguagem, mas também o desenvolvimento de habilidades socioemocionais, homenageando a diversidade em nosso mundo através de uma narrativa forte e atraente para crianças pequenas.
No dia 28 de outubro, as turmas do Preschool ao Grade 2 se juntaram a este evento internacional mais uma vez e foram convidadas a imaginar várias crianças de diferentes lugares lendo a mesma história ao mesmo tempo:
“Eles estão lendo este livro em Orlando?
Até na China e no Japão?”.
Além de gostar de uma literatura maravilhosa, eles se sentiram parte de uma Comunidade Global.
O livro selecionado este ano foi “Amy Wu and the Patchwork Dragon”, de Kat Zhang, um livro comovente e significativo que aborda tópicos como criatividade, autoafirmação e o poder do amor e do cuidado por meio de palavras de incentivo.
Em resumo, esta campanha de leitura brilhante traz sempre o conhecimento de diferentes culturas e deixa nossos jovens leitores entusiasmados em ouvir histórias, nutrindo o prazer pela leitura.
