Bucket-filling is a term used in education to refer to positive attitudes and behaviors. It relies on the analogy that every person carries with them an “invisible bucket” and it contains a person’s feelings and emotions. When our bucket is full, it means we are feeling happy and it can overflow and be spread all around.
While preparing for Thanksgiving, students have reflected on being grateful through kindness and positive attitudes having the story ”Have You Filled A Bucket Today?“, by Carol McCloud, as a reference. Therefore children could relate the meaning of Thanksgiving and the feeling of being grateful with the concept of bucket fillers, referring to those who practice kindness and encouraging attitudes towards the others.
In addition, the families were invited to share what they were thankful for in a Padlet Board, in order to express to the school community what they were thankful for.

Você já encheu um balde hoje?
Encher balde (bucket-filling) é um termo usado na educação para se referir a atitudes e comportamentos positivos. Consiste na analogia de que cada pessoa carrega consigo um “balde invisível” e que contém seus sentimentos e emoções. Quando nosso balde está cheio, significa que estamos nos sentindo felizes e ele pode transbordar e se espalhar por todos os lados.
Enquanto se preparavam para o Dia de Ação de Graças, os alunos refletiram sobre formas de expressar a gratidão por meio da gentileza e atitudes positivas, tendo como referência a história “Você já encheu um balde hoje?“, de Carol McCloud. Assim, as crianças puderam relacionar o significado do Thanksgiving e o sentimento de gratidão com o conceito de enchedoras de baldes, referindo-se àqueles que praticam atitudes de gentileza e incentivo para com os outros.
Além disso, as famílias foram convidadas a compartilhar uma mensagem de gratidão em um quadro do Padlet, a fim de expressar à comunidade escolar pelo que estão agradecidas.
