Haiku is a type of Japanese poem which has a very specific form. It has only three lines and each line follows a pattern of 5 syllables in the first, 7 syllables in the second, and 5 syllables in the last one.
They do not rhyme and a traditional haiku usually refers to nature, but we can write about anything we want.
Due to its concise form, Haiku usually appeals to the five senses to depict a mental image on the reader’s mind.
In this mini-project, after we studied the form and analyzed some haiku, the students were encouraged to create their own poems and also an interesting way to present them. After a previous selection (based on five assessment criteria), the students voted for their favorite poems, and here they are.

Haikai
Haikai é um tipo de poema de origem japonesa que possui uma forma bem específica. Ele tem apenas três linhas e segue um padrão de 5 sílabas na primeira linha, sete na segunda e cinco na terceira. Haikais não rimam e os poemas tradicionais geralmente se referem à natureza, mas eles podem ser sobre qualquer coisa.
Devido sua forma concisa, haikais geralmente apelam para os cinco sentidos para criar imagens mentais na imaginação do leitor.
Neste mini-projeto, após estudarmos a forma e analisarmos alguns haikais, os alunos foram encorajados a criar seus próprios poemas e também a criarem uma forma interessante de apresenta-los. Depois de uma seleção prévia (baseada em cinco critérios de avaliação), os alunos votaram nos seus poemas favoritos, e aqui estão eles.
