A buzzing experiment
Challenges, experiments, children’s questions, and curiosity are amazing ingredients for promoting meaningful learning! When you add children’s inherent love for science, the result is engagement.
Grade 2B students recently experienced how pollinators help plants reproduce. After selecting and making a prototype of their favorite animal, they flew and buzzed around plants, drinking nectar from “flowers.”
To their surprise, they found something stuck on their legs, bodies, and mouths. What was it? Well, if we ask our young scientists about this fantastic experience, they will probably tell us how they were enchanted not only by flowers, but also by butterflies, insects, hummingbirds, bats, bees, and other small, but incredibly important helpers of nature.

Os alunos do Grade 2B recentemente aprenderam como os polinizadores ajudam as plantas a se reproduzirem. Após selecionarem e criarem um protótipo de seu animal favorito, eles voaram e zumbiram ao redor das plantas, bebendo néctar de “flores”.
Para sua surpresa, encontraram algo grudado em suas pernas, corpos e bocas. O que seria isso? Bem, se perguntarmos aos nossos pequenos cientistas sobre essa experiência fantástica eles provavelmente nos contarão como se encantaram não apenas pelas flores, mas também por borboletas, insetos, beija-flores, morcegos, abelhas e outros pequenos, mas incrivelmente importantes, ajudantes da natureza.
