Grade 2 students have been studying about plants: its parts, needs and functions. So, they were invited to go on an investigation in our school’s garden to observe the nature around them and sharpen their investigative skills. Their curious and attentive little eyes are an essential tool in this process.
Usually, a scientific investigation begins with observations that lead to thought provoking questions. Our kids were challenged to develop critical thinking as they explored and expanded their previous knowledge about plants, making experiments to better understand its characteristics, needs and functions.
While our little scientists are conducting such investigations, they may want to explore new ideas, gather evidence, prove or disprove previous results. Having this in mind, children can put into practice everything they have learned. Children use their senses to investigate the world around them and learn how the world works and why things happen.

Olhinhos curiosos…
Os alunos do Grade 2 têm estudado sobre plantas: suas partes, necessidades e funções. Assim, eles foram convidados a fazer uma investigação no jardim da nossa escola para observar a natureza ao seu redor e aprimorar suas habilidades investigativas. Seus olhinhos curiosos e atentos são uma ferramenta essencial nesse processo.
Normalmente uma investigação científica começa com observações que levam a perguntas instigantes. Nossas crianças foram desafiadas a desenvolver o pensamento crítico à medida que exploravam e ampliavam seus conhecimentos prévios sobre as plantas, realizando experimentos para entender melhor suas características, necessidades e funções.
Enquanto nossos pequenos cientistas estão conduzindo tais investigações, eles podem querer explorar novas ideias, reunir evidências, provar ou refutar descobertas anteriores. Tendo isso em mente, as crianças podem colocar em prática tudo o que aprenderam. As crianças usam seus sentidos para investigar o mundo ao seu redor e aprender como o mundo funciona e por que as coisas acontecem.
